Sydney prepares itself for Christmas festivities

With Christmas approaching, Sydney braces itself for the festive season with decorations and free public events. These December month long events are sure to entertain and lighten up the City of Sydney. These city illuminations are sure to put everyone in the mood for christmas.

Some interesting light spectacles can be viewed at Sydney Town Hall and Martin Place.

Town Hall Illuminations

The clocktower and ornate façade of Sydney Town Hall will be lit up as always with festive illuminations. Wander through the city in the evenings as the spectacular coloured lights come on at dusk and stay on until late. The incredible projections offer another fantastic focal point for Sydney’s Christmas celebrations.

These lights can be seen at Town Hall from 7pm to 12am from Thursday the 26th of November to Friday the 25th of December.

MLC Centre Merry-Go-Rounds

MLC Centre’s Christmas gift to Sydney is Merry Go Round, another spectacular projection project on the Commercial Travellers Association building in Martin Place.

Celebrating the love and the fun of Christmas, Merry Go Round is a beautifully detailed, whimsical celebration of joy for the child in all of us. The projection show’s creators, Ample Projects, have reimagined the CTA facade as a miraculous mechanical toy carousel with an array of playful inhabitants. The building spins and pops while robots dance and mechanical animals sing. The show pushes the transformational possibilities of architectural projection to its limits, as the building packs itself up and blasts off into space as a flying saucer bejewelled with Christmas lights.

Showing each evening to Christmas Night, this centrepiece show will amaze and delight, making Merry Go Round a must see experience this Christmas.

These projections can be seen everyday from 8pm to 12am from Tuesday the 1st of December to Thursday 31st of December.
